December 29, 2021 became one of the most historic moments for a student of the Department of Mathematics named Muhammad Atha Fauzan. He is a member of the 2018 cohort who successfully completed his studies in 3 years and 4 months, achieving a GPA of 3.53 with Honors (Cum Laude). His graduation ceremony was held on February 10, 2022, a moment he had long awaited.
Muhammad Atha Fauzan, more commonly known as Atha, may not be widely known among many people. However, behind the scenes, he is an individual who has been actively involved in student organizations and campus activities, accumulating various achievements and participating in activities he considered essential for his personal development. Atha received recognition as one of the Outstanding Youth of 2020, awarded by the Aceh Provincial Office of Education and Sports during the commemoration of the 92nd Youth Pledge Day.
In addition, Atha was actively involved in student organizations, including the Mathematics Student Association (Himatika) and the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FMIPA, throughout his years of study.
Atha was also recorded as one of the students who participated in the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka program through the Indonesian Student Micro-Credential Program (KMMI). He was accepted as one of the selected students from 1,203 applicants to study at the University of Indonesia, in partnership with Bank Syariah Indonesia, in the course Sharia Strategic Banking Management, which had a very limited quota. Through this program, he gained knowledge not only from lecturers at the University of Indonesia but also directly from practitioners who are employees of Bank Syariah Indonesia. At the end of the course, Atha achieved an excellent result, with a final score of 90, equivalent to an A grade.
From the various activities he has undertaken, Atha expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT for the opportunities and achievements he has attained. He also conveyed his sincere thanks to everyone involved in the process. In addition to his parents, he expressed special appreciation to the lecturers and staff of the Department of Mathematics, who consistently provided support and opportunities for students to explore and develop both their hard skills and soft skills. Atha also extended his heartfelt thanks to his friends from the 2018 cohort for their full support and togetherness throughout the 3 years and 4 months, which he considers a very meaningful part of his journey to achieving his current success.
“There is nothing impossible if we truly know ourselves. Every opportunity must be utilized, and we should never be afraid to try and fail,” Atha stated. He also emphasized that his achievement of graduating in 7 semesters is not only a personal accomplishment, but a significant achievement for all 2018 Mathematics students of the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA USK, represented through him.
