Banda Aceh – The Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program (PSMAT), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), has once again demonstrated its commitment to the internationalization of higher education by welcoming an international student from Kyrgyzstan, Begaiym Childebaeva.

Begaiym Childebaeva was admitted to PSMAT through the International Student Scholarship pathway managed by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) USK. In the admission process of international students, PSMAT played an active role, particularly in the recruitment stage as an interviewer, to assess the candidates’ academic readiness, motivation, and suitability of their educational background with the field of mathematics.
In the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, PSMAT officially accepted Begaiym Childebaeva as an international undergraduate student. She is currently still registered as an active student in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Throughout her academic journey at USK, Begaiym has shown strong engagement in both curricular and co-curricular activities. Notably, she has served as a teaching assistant for the Linear Programming and Introduction to Numerical Methods courses, reflecting her academic competence and active participation in supporting the learning process within the study program.
As part of her adaptation to the academic and social environment at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Begaiym has also participated in various supporting programs for international students. One of these activities is the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing – BIPA) program organized by OIA USK. This program aims to enhance Indonesian language proficiency and introduce local culture, enabling international students to interact effectively in academic activities as well as in daily life.

The presence of international students at PSMAT is expected to enrich the academic atmosphere and broaden the global perspective of the academic community. Furthermore, PSMAT’s involvement in the recruitment and academic integration of international students reflects the study program’s strong commitment to supporting Universitas Syiah Kuala’s sustainable internationalization policy.
