At the beginning of 2018, the Mathematics Study Program successfully increased the number of its teaching staff with the addition of one new lecturer, namely Ikhsan Maulidi, M.Sc. Ikhsan completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). More detailed information can be accessed at: http://math.unsyiah.ac.id/ind/ikhsanmaulidi/. To date, Ikhsan is recorded as the youngest lecturer in the Mathematics Study Program, a status previously held by Radhiah, M.Sc.

Meanwhile, toward the end of 2018, Rahma Zuhra, M.Sc., successfully completed her doctoral studies on August 16, 2018, at The National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). Her dissertation was entitled “Fixed Point Result for Certain Types of Weak Contraction Mappings on Various Metric Spaces.” Dr. Rahma Zuhra has been teaching in the Mathematics Study Program since 1999.

These two achievements became a sweet gift for the Mathematics Study Program as it celebrated its 29th anniversary. Dr. Rini Oktavia, Secretary of the Mathematics Study Program, expressed her great joy over Rahma Zuhra’s success in earning her doctoral degree and even took the time to attend the graduation ceremony in person. This reflects the strong support of the Mathematics Study Program in encouraging its teaching staff to continuously develop their academic qualifications.

As a result, the number of lecturers in the Mathematics Study Program holding doctoral (PhD) qualifications has now reached eight people, representing 47 percent of the total 17 lecturers.

It is projected that in 2019, the Mathematics Study Program will recruit two new lecturers with master’s degree (S2) qualifications. This plan is in accordance with the Announcement Number: 4105/A.A2/KP/2018 concerning the Recruitment Selection of Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) for the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education in 2018.
