Banda Aceh, January 13, 2026 — The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala, carried out a collaboration activity with the BMKG Banda Aceh Meteorological Station at 11.00 WIB, held at the Banda Aceh Meteorological Station.

The event was attended by the Head of the Banda Aceh Meteorological Station, Anang Heriyanto, M.Si., along with the leadership and academic community of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK, including the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Dra. Intan Syahrini, M.Si., and the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program, Mahmudi, S.Si., M.Si.

Also present were lecturers from the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK, namely Dr. Dra. Siti Rusdiana, M.Eng., Ahmad Hadra Zuhri, M.Si., Nissa Fiska, S.Pd., M.Si., and Reza Wafdan, S.Si., M.Mat., as well as internship students consisting of Rifka Yanti, Muhammad Ravi, Hidayatul Alia, Isma Balqis, Fadhilah Utami, Fadillah Khairani, Muhajir Maarif, and Nurfadila.

This activity aimed to officially deliver internship students and to discuss potential collaboration opportunities between the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK and the BMKG Banda Aceh Meteorological Station, particularly in the fields of research and education.

Through this collaboration, it is expected that internship programs for students of the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK can be implemented, and that strategic partnerships with BMKG can be established in developing research based on meteorological data and in applying mathematics to atmospheric and climate studies.

The collaboration activities included:

  1. A meeting between the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK and the Banda Aceh Meteorological Station as an initial step to explore cooperation opportunities.
  2. Discussions on research and educational collaboration, including the use of meteorological data for the development of mathematical models and research-based learning.
  3. Formal handover of internship students to BMKG as the partner institution for the internship program.
  4. Introduction to the working environment and facilities of the Banda Aceh Meteorological Station to provide students with direct insight into BMKG’s operational activities.

Through this activity, the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK hopes that collaboration with the BMKG Banda Aceh Meteorological Station will continue to be developed through sustainable internship programs, collaborative research, and curriculum development based on real data and applications. Synergy between higher education institutions and government agencies is expected to enhance student competencies, strengthen lecturers’ research capacity, and provide tangible contributions to the development of applied mathematics in meteorology and disaster studies.
