The Social Affairs Division (Sosmas) of the Mathematics Student Association (HIMATIKA), together with the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala, organized a Charity Event Program at a foundation on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at SOS Children Village Banda Aceh. This activity served as a form of student community engagement aimed at fostering empathy and social awareness, particularly toward children living in foundation environments.

The event was attended by lecturers, students, and children from the foundation in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Also present at the event were Renaldi Hasan as the Head of the Foundation, Muhammad Rizqi Musa, S.Pd., M.Si. as the Student Affairs Coordinator of the Department of Mathematics, Muhammad Ravi as the Chairman of HIMATIKA, and Sarah Nadia as the Chairperson of the organizing committee.

This program aimed to strengthen the relationship between university students and the residents of the foundation, while also providing moral support and social assistance as an expression of compassion and humanity. In addition, the activity served as a learning opportunity for students to develop empathy and understand the importance of sharing with others.

The event began with a formal session that included the opening ceremony, the presentation of a certificate to the foundation, and the handover of food supplies and donations. After the formal session concluded, the program continued with various interactive and educational non-formal activities involving the children of the foundation.

During the non-formal session, participants joined a room tour to become more familiar with the environment of SOS Children Village Banda Aceh. The students also organized educational activities such as showing animated videos and conducting coloring activities for elementary school children.

For high school students, the university students provided mathematics education and school subject tutoring delivered in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. This activity was expected to increase the children’s enthusiasm for learning and broaden their knowledge, especially in mathematics.

The atmosphere became even more lively with various interactive games, including ping-pong ball games involving children from elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels. The activity concluded with prize distribution for game participants and a closing session.

Through this program, HIMATIKA and the Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK hope that students will continue to cultivate values of social care, togetherness, and the spirit of sharing in their daily lives. This activity also demonstrates that university students not only play a role in academics but also carry social responsibilities toward the community.

It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be carried out sustainably as part of students’ real contribution to building a more caring, inclusive, and empathetic society.
