The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), conducted a roadshow aimed at introducing the department and its academic programs. The event took place in two districts of Aceh — Pidie on October 14, 2022, and Bireuen on October 15, 2022.

In addition to promoting the Undergraduate (S1) and Master’s (S2) Mathematics Programs, the department also organized a training workshop on the use of GeoGebra, an interactive mathematics application, for mathematics teachers. The roadshow team consisted of the Head of the Mathematics Department, Ms. Nurmaulidar, M.Sc., the Head of the Master’s Program in Mathematics, Dr. Dra. Intan Syahrini, M.Si., as well as several lecturers and administrative staff from the department.

In Pidie District, the Department of Mathematics collaborated with the Subject Teacher Forum (MGMP) of Mathematics for Madrasah Aliyah (MA). The activity was held at MAN 1 Pidie and attended by 39 participants, comprising teachers from Madrasah Aliyah (MA), Senior High Schools (SMA), and Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), both public and private, across Pidie. The event was also attended by Mr. Syafaruddin Gultom, S.Pd., Head of MGMP Mathematics for MA in Pidie District.
In Bireuen District, the roadshow took place at MAN 2 Bireuen in collaboration with the Madrasah Working Group (K2M) for the MA level. The event was officially opened by Mr. Anis, S.Ag., Head of the Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bireuen Office, and was also attended by Mr. Abdullah, S.Ag., M.Pd., Chair of K2M MA Bireuen. A total of 40 participants—teachers from both public and private MAs—joined the activity in the school’s main hall.

The success of the roadshow in both districts was supported by alumni of the Mathematics Department, who helped connect the department with local education partners. The GeoGebra training, delivered by Mathematics Department lecturers, focused on how to use GeoGebra as a teaching and learning tool to enhance mathematics instruction in schools. Through this workshop, teachers gained practical knowledge on how to integrate GeoGebra into their classroom activities. This implementation is expected to improve students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics and make learning experiences more interactive and engaging.
