An outstanding achievement has once again been attained by a student of the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). Henrik Vian Lu, a Mathematics student from the 2022 cohort, successfully won the National Champion title (Novice Category) at the National University Debating Championship (NUDC) 2025.
This national-level debating competition was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktistek) and was held on 20–24 October 2025 at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. NUDC 2025 was participated in by 97 teams, each consisting of two debaters, representing universities from across Indonesia.
Henrik Vian Lu’s victory in the Novice Category demonstrates exceptional critical, logical, and communicative thinking skills, as well as the strong competitiveness of USK Mathematics students not only in academic pursuits but also in national debating competitions that demand sharp analytical abilities and strong argumentation skills.
This achievement further highlights that Mathematics students possess robust competencies in developing logical reasoning, constructing data-driven arguments, and communicating effectively in scholarly and competitive forums.
The Department of Mathematics, FMIPA, Universitas Syiah Kuala, extends its highest appreciation and congratulations on this accomplishment. It is hoped that this achievement will inspire other students to continue developing their potential and to excel in various fields—both academic and non-academic—at national and international levels.
