Banda Aceh – Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) has demonstrated its deep concern for students affected by natural disasters. In early December 2025, Lisma, a Mathematics student at FMIPA USK, received educational and humanitarian assistance after her family was hit by a devastating flash flood and landslide in Aceh Tamiang.
The disaster destroyed Lisma’s home and caused the passing of four members of her immediate family. Those who returned to the mercy of Allah SWT were:
- Mother: Eka Suyanti
- Older Sister: Dea Alvionika
- Younger Sister: Askiya Nurriski
- Younger Brother: Muhammad Zikri
Responding to this situation, the Rector of USK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, IPU., personally provided full scholarship support and a complete waiver of tuition fees (UKT) until she finishes her studies. On this occasion, the Rector emphasized that USK is a home for all students, and the university is committed to standing by them during their most difficult times.
In addition to support from the Rectorate, Rumah Amal Masjid Jamik USK also extended humanitarian aid to help Lisma’s immediate needs during her recovery period.
From the faculty level, the Dean of FMIPA USK, Prof. Dr. Taufik Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., expressed his condolences and ensured that the faculty will continue to support Lisma both academically and emotionally.
The Department of Mathematics FMIPA USK also conveys its deepest condolences for the tragedy that has befallen Lisma and her family. We pray that Allah SWT grants her strength, patience, and healing in facing this difficult test.
The department is committed to providing academic, moral, and social support to help Lisma continue her studies and pursue a brighter future.
The collective efforts of the Rectorate, FMIPA, the Department of Mathematics, Rumah Amal Masjid Jamik USK, and the entire academic community reflect the strong sense of solidarity within USK. This support is hoped to be a source of strength for Lisma as she recovers and continues her academic journey.
